Be Inspired: Run the TRI!

Need inspiration for the Tri to Beat Cancer Sprint-Triathlon in August? Take a cue from former “couch potato”, Jim Patton, who made the decision to run marathons in order to take part in the fight against cancer. (Read his story here.)

By deciding to run in the Tri to Beat Cancer Sprint-Triathlon, you will be actively pursuing a healthier lifestyle for yourself while financially and emotionally supporting cancer patients in a 15 county-wide area that are being served by CFNEGA. All the proceeds go directly to the relief of their financial stress.

Sign up now to participate in the 400 meter lake swim, 14 mile bike, and 5k run! Dedicate your participation to alleviating the financial stress of cancer for your neighbors!

Patient Testimonial

CFNEGA’s Financial Assistance Program is making a huge difference in the lives of cancer patients across NEGA. Barbara, a colon cancer patient, shares her story of how CFNEGA’s assistance impacted her life and decreased her financial stress:

Oh, [CFNEGA’s assistance] was very helpful, and it took a lot of stress off of me. CFNEGA paid for my rent until I learned I was about to move, then, instead of paying for my rent I asked if they could pay for my eye glasses which cost over three hundred dollars. They were happy to cover the cost, and I was so thankful because I wouldn’t have been able to get them on my own. Now I’m in full remission from [multiple types of] cancer, and I am so thankful for the work [CFNEGA] does. It’s people like you guys that really make it possible for those in my position to not be so stressed out because they can’t cover the costs of the things they need. I find it a blessing to be able to share my story with anybody if it means giving something back to [CFNEGA].

Using your Mind as Medicine

Can your attitude affect your response to treatment?

Some believe it can. Natural News posted an article titled: “Using your mind to ease pain and fight disease.” It explores the idea that patients who feel more hopeful about their life and focus on positive, uplifting thoughts can fight the effects of cancer by overpowering physical pain with guided imagery.

Check out the article and tell us what you think!

From everyone at CFNEGA to you and your family, we want to wish you a merry Christmas and happy holidays! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to volunteer and donate to our cause. So many patients have been helped during this holiday season because of you, and we are more than thankful for that fact.

Enjoy this time with your friends and family, and cherish every moment you can!
